The Environmental Protection Agency last week rated the Cruze’s 1.8-liter Ecotec engine — standard on the base model — at 26 miles per gallon in city driving and 36 mpg on the highway for the standard manual transmission. The automatic transmission will get 22 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The EPA rated the 1.4- liter turbocharged engine — standard in the Cruze LT and LTZ models — at 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
The Cruze Eco is expected to get 40 mpg on the highway when it is released later this year.
