Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers was presented the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible at a press conference Monday after leading the Packers to a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday evening.

A media panel and fan vote on www.superbowl.com determined the MVP Award winner, announced during the Super Bowl Postgame Show on Fox, presented by Chevrolet.

”We think the new Camaro Convertible is a fitting tribute to that great performance last night,” says Kevin Mayer, director of Chevrolet marketing.

The Camaro Convertible appeared on the field during the postgame celebration, and debuts in Chevrolet dealerships later this month. The convertible continues the momentum of Camaro, which is the sales leader in its segment in the United States.  Available with an efficient 3.6-liter Direct Injection V6 engine, or as the V8-powered, 426-hp SS model, Camaro now features a power convertible top for the unequalled fun of open-air driving.  

The Super Bowl MVP receives the Pete Rozelle Trophy, a silver trophy made by Tiffany & Co., and the Camaro Convertible.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Goes to Super Bowl XLV MVP

The Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLV between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers on February 6 will receive a 2011 Camaro Convertible, Chevrolet announced January 23, 2011.

A media panel and fan vote on www.superbowl.com will determine the MVP Award winner, announced during the Super Bowl XLV Postgame Show on Fox, presented by Chevrolet.

"The new Camaro Convertible arrives in dealerships in February and will be a fitting reward for the MVP," said Rick Scheidt, US vice president of Chevrolet marketing. "It's a great opportunity for Chevy to have Camaro play a role on one of the world's biggest stages, the Super Bowl."

The Camaro Convertible will appear on the field during the postgame celebration in North Texas. The convertible continues the momentum of Camaro, which has taken the lead in its segment in the United States.  Available with an efficient 3.6-liter Direct Injection V6 engine, or as the V8-powered, 426-hp SS model, Camaro now features a power convertible top for the unequalled fun of open-air driving.  

The Super Bowl MVP receives the Pete Rozelle Trophy, a silver trophy made by Tiffany & Co., and the Camaro Convertible.  The MVP will be available following the winning coach's news conference on Monday, February 7 at 8:30 a.m. CST at the Super Bowl XLV Media Center, Houston B-C (3rd Floor).

2011 Camaro Convertible to Pace Indy 500

January 20, at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Auto Auction in Scottsdale, AZ, Chevrolet and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that a special edition 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS Convertible will serve as the official pace car for the 2011 Indianapolis 500.

The 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS Convertible is the 22nd Chevrolet and the seventh Camaro chosen to pace “the greatest spectacle in racing.” Adding to the rich heritage is the fact that 2011 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500, as well as Chevrolet's centennial year.

The three pace cars and the fifty matching festival cars will be equipped with the 400-horsepower (298 kW) V-8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission.  These special edition Camaro models will feature a Summit White exterior accented with orange stripes and door graphics. The interior is trimmed in orange leather, including front seat headrests embossed with the Indy 500 logo, along with white door panels and instrument panel trim. The instrument panel trims features extensions of the orange exterior stripes.  A picture of the pace car is attached below.

The color combination is similar to the design used on 1969 Camaro Indy pace car replicas – cars which have become among the most popular Camaro models in the collector world.

To commemorate this special designation, Chevrolet also announced this evening plans to auction the first of 50 Indianapolis Festival Committee Cars.  The auction for this first festival committee car takes place Saturday evening, January 22, 2011, during SPEED’s live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson event. The vehicle carries lot number 1284 and bids can be submitted at the auction in person or online.

Chevrolet will donate full proceeds of the auction to the David Foster Foundation, (http://www.davidfosterfoundation.org) a charity devoted to supporting families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants.

David Foster, the 15-time Grammy winning music producer and songwriter, founded the organization in his native Canada.

2011 Chevy Camaro convertible is braced and ready to roll

A power folding top, the addition of structural braces and the same powertrain lineup as that found in the coupe are the key selling points of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

The drop-top Camaro, which gets a formal debut at the Los Angeles auto show on Wednesday, goes on sale in February. The Camaro convertible will have a base price of $30,000, including the destination charge.

The Camaro convertible will be available in LT and SS trim levels, the same as the Camaro coupe. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V-6, rated at 312 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque, mated to either an Aisin six-speed manual transmission or a General Motors Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission.

The Camaro convertible SS is powered by a 6.2-liter V-8. Cars equipped with the Tremec TR 6060 six-speed manual will use GM's LS3 engine, rated at 426 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The Camaro SS equipped with a GM Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic uses the L99 engine, rated at 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.

About that top

The Camaro's folding top operates similarly to the folding top on the Chevrolet Corvette. A twist of a handle at the front edge of the top releases it from the windshield header. The driver then pushes a button, which stows the top behind the rear seats and lowers the windows.

Chevy says it takes about 20 seconds to lower the top, which is made from canvas material and uses a headliner to dampen road noise.

While the Camaro architecture was originally engineered to include a convertible version, the loss of the coupe roof prompted engineers to add some braces to counteract steering-wheel and cowl shake. The Camaro convertible gets:

• A brace that connects the front strut towers.

• A reinforcement brace for the transmission support.

• V-shaped braces at the front and rear of the underbody.

• A brace for the underbody tunnel.

Engineers also added a hydroformed tube inside the Camaro's A-pillars and a reinforcement bracket inside the windshield header, and they reinforced the rocker panels and front hinge pillars to cut down on noise, vibration and harshness.

The changes keep the Camaro convertible body stiff enough that engineers used the suspension bushings and springs with the same stiffness as the components used on the Camaro coupe, instead of selecting softer settings to quell vibrations.

Chevrolet Reveals Camaro Convertible on Facebook

It's been an achingly long, three-year slog up until this point, but Chevrolet has finally taken the wraps off the production version of the 2011 Camaro Convertible ahead of its big day at the LA Auto Show.

The somewhat small images posted on Facebook give us our first view of the drop-top pony car with its canvas roof in place, but other than that, the 'vert is exactly what you've come to expect. Both V6 and V8 models will be available at launch, with the six-pot RS putting out 312 horsepower and the range-topping LS3-equipped SS producing 426 ponies. Sales are set to begin this March, with an entry-level price tag of around $30,000.

Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible Sells Out in 3 Minutes!

The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book is chock full of high-end products that most of us either couldn't or shouldn't afford. But when it comes to a hot-looking, limited edition Camaro convertible, even a $75,000 price tag isn't enough to scare some of us off. Neiman Marcus and General Motors sold all 100 copies of the exclusive drop-top in a mere three minutes. That's about $2.5 million worth of metal every minute; a sizable amount of dough even for a company the size and shape of GM.

The 100 of a kind Camaro features special Deep Bordeaux paint with like-colored convertible top, plus leather trim that isn't available in any other Bow Tie pony car. Power comes from the same 426 horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 that motivates the Camaro SS. 

So if you were hoping to get your hands on a Neiman Marcus Camaro convertible; you'd better know one of the 100 people who actually bought one. We're sure you're not too heartbroken, though. Hennessey building ZR1-powered HPE700 Chevy Camaro Convertible

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is getting ready to take the stage at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, but John Hennessey and his band of tuners can't wait that long. Hennessey Performance has announced plans and specs for its upcoming, limited-edition 2011 Hennessey HPE700 Camaro Convertible. 

HPE had a hit on its hands when it announced the 2010 HPE700 Camaro. That 725-horsepower coupe was limited to just 24 examples and they were all quickly spoken for. Since Chevrolet is bringing out the droptop Camaro, Hennessey has decided to produce another 24-car limited-edition run with the 2011 model. The 2011 Hennessey HPE700 will be available in both coupe and convertible form, and the cars stats are staggering.

The HPE700 ditches the LS3 mill found in the standard Camaro SS and in its place sticks the supercharged LS9 from the Corvette ZR1. Hennessey says the motor has been tweaked to produce 755 hp and 763 pound-feet of torque. The 6.2-liter V8 is able to hit those numbers thanks to revised boost levels and a more robust fuel system. Thanks to all that power, Hennessey has listed a 0-60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds. A trip down the quarter-mile happens in 10.9 seconds at 130 miles per hour. Those figures are for the hardtop version when fitted with optional Nitto drag radials.

It's not just a straight-line shooter though, as Hennessey adds more than power to its HPE700. The car is fitted with lightweight HPE wheels, 15-inch brakes with six-piston front calipers, larger sway bars and an adjustable coilover suspension setup. The exterior is fitted with numerous carbon fiber trim pieces. Inside, the HPE700 Camaro receives Hennessey logos on the headrests and floor mats, an HPE race shift knob and upgraded shifter, a numbered dash and hood plaque and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

Currently, there is no set allocation plan for the coupe and convertible in the 24-car run. Pricing has been set at a stout $132,500, but that includes the cost of the base vehicle. It also includes a one-day performance driving course at Lonestar Motorsports Park. The quarter-mile dragstrip, which has been featured in many of Hennessey's videos, is located next door to the company's production facility and showroom.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Neiman Marcus edition

It's a big day for the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. General Motors has pulled back the curtains on a low-volume special edition version of the drop-top muscle car set to go on sale next year. The vehicle is slated to be featured in the annual Neiman Marcus Christmas Book – a catalog of high-end goodies for the ruling class. Only 100 examples of the Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible will be sold through the catalog, each wearing special Deep Bordeaux paint and boasting drivetrain components borrowed from the mighty Camaro SS. That means there's a full 426 horsepower on tap. Inside, GM has slathered the cockpit in leather touches only available on this special edition. 

Want one? You better have been one very, very good boy or girl this year. The price tag for the beast you see above is $75,000.

The General also showed off a handful of additional photos of the standard Camaro Convertible on Facebook. This time, we get a closer look at the vehicle's interior. Fortunately, the base Camaro drop head should come at a more tolerable $30,000.
